UPDATE 6/1/2019: 7NEWS HAS MOVED THE VIDEO TO THEIR WEBSITE, BUT IT IS FREE TO WATCH AFTER A SIGN-UP/SIGN-IN (IT IS WELL WORTH THE TROUBLE). LINK: “The Phenomenon”.
Last night, Sunday night, in Australia at 7:00 PM, 7NEWS Spotlight (with host Ross Coulthart) presented a 1 hour and 11 minute film, “The Phenomenon,” which exposes its government’s decades-long cover-up of UFO sightings.
The famous Westall School UFO Incident in the Melbourne suburb by that name is discussed in detail at the 45:50 minute mark in the video. After many years of silence, the science teacher, Mr. Andrew Greenwood, who was an important witness to that event, is finally giving his account.
From 7NEWS Spotlight:
In 1966, Westall High School was a college of about 600 pupils in Melbourne’s southwest. On April 6, 200 staff, students and residents witnessed ‘metallic discs’ or ‘flying saucers’ over a local football field.
Andrew Greenwood is one of those witnesses and a former schoolteacher. For the first time, he’s allowed himself to be identified to tell his story.
Andrew was teaching a year 9 science class when a young girl burst into the classroom saying there was a ‘flying saucer’ outside.
“I can remember running out into the oval, looking into the sky, and seeing these things, and just standing there absolutely transfixed,” Greenwood told 7NEWS Spotlight.
“I haven’t seen anything in my life like it before, haven’t seen anything since. “It was a grey, almost cylindrical or cigar shaped object which moved with some degree of precision in the sky.”

DISCLAIMER: We will take no position pro or con on the reality of alien contact unless and until they get involved in Presidential politics. 😉
Not sure which is the bigger story here–that Edgar Mitchell has (again) told his story of alien contact or that it was headlined on Fox News.
As some of you may remember, Mitchell (who for all intents and purposes seems quite believable) told this story as far back as 1994 (and maybe earlier).
But, FWIW, here it is (again)…
Former NASA astronaut and moon-walker Dr. Edgar Mitchell — a veteran of the Apollo 14 mission — claims aliens exist.
He says extraterrestrials have visited Earth on several occasions — but the alien contact has been repeatedly covered up by governments for six decades.
Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview in Birmingham, England, that sources in the federal government who had had contact with aliens described the beings as “little people who look strange to us.”
He said supposedly real-life ET’s were similar to the traditional image of a “small gray” — short, slight frame, large eyes and large head.
Here’s the LINK to audio clip at Kerrang Radio in Birmingham UK that aired the interview. The show is “The Night Before” (the Tuesday show). BTW, this clip seems to work only on Internet Explorer.
You must click on “Karrang Radio” in the left hand menu and then click on “The Night Before” (Tuesday show) to hear the clip.

I have been scouring the news for any follow-up articles on the “Stone Scroll” or “Gabriel’s Revelation” as it has been called and haven’t found much that advances the arguments that have already been made.
I did, however, stumble across this piece this morning in IsraelToday.com and thought it worth posting.
Messianic leaders say Hebrew tablet validates Jesus’ claims
By Ryan Jones
Friday, July 11, 2008
Israeli Jewish believers in Jesus say the recently publicized Hebrew tablet describing the death and resurrection of a messianic figure challenges centuries of teachings by rabbinic Judaism that the redemptive process of Jesus was a departure from biblical Jewish understanding.
The unique stone tablet dubbed “Gabriel’s Revelation” contains 87 partial lines of archaic Hebrew in which the archangel commands a messianic ruler identified as the “Prince of Princes” to rise after having been dead for three days.
The tablet was found in neighboring Jordan some eight years ago, but just last week gained international attention after featuring as one of the centerpieces at a special Israel Museum event marking 60 years since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
The content of the tablet quickly made headlines after a leading Israeli professor of Bible studies, Israel Knohl of the Hebrew University, spoke of his conclusions regarding the script. In an interview with the International Herald Tribune, Knohl called the text “revolutionary” in its confirmation that Messiah suffering and dying was originally a Jewish concept.

The Continuing Controversy: the Stone Scroll/Gabriel’s Revelation
“A New Dead Sea Scroll in Stone?” (By Ada Yardeni)
This morning I found one article (in the Times UK) on this subject but it was so one-sided it could have been written by Richard Dawkins or Christopher Hitchens (it offered elaboration of only Israel Knohl’s theory). Here’s its thrust…
The death and resurrection of Christ has been called into question by a radical new interpretation of a tablet found on the eastern bank of the Dead Sea.
After a little bit of digging, I came across an article that presents both Professor Knohl’s point of view and the opposing POV–that the information so far provided by the “tablet” is supportive of and consistent with the Christian view of the Resurrection. The Christian point of view is presented by Dr Timothy Gray, a professor of Biblical Studies at the Augustine Institute in Denver.
Here’s a link to that article (in the Catholic News Agency)…
Scholars divided on interpretation of ‘Gabriel’s Revelation’ tablet
The interpretations of scholars reported in the International Herald Tribune, Gray said, was “very striking” for its insistence that any evidence must undermine Christianity.
“On the one hand, scholars argue no Jewish tradition about a messiah suffering shows that the Church added this idea. And once you show a document, an ancient document to point to, showing that they did interpret a prophet like Daniel to expect a suffering messiah, well then people say ‘Well this proves Christianity can’t be true.’”
“You can’t have it both ways,” Gray said.
[UPDATE: See comments below for a reposting of a line by line English translation of the script on the stone–Source.]
Before the NY Times article on the Stone Scroll appeared on Sunday, Ada Yardeni herself (the specialist in Hebrew writing who recognized the importance of Jeselsohn ‘s stone tablet) published an article in the Jan/Feb 2008 Biblical Archaeology Review entitled “A New Dead Sea Scroll in Stone?”.
Here’s an excerpt. Read the whole thing, it’s quite interesting!
And the letters that have survived are often very hard to read. The back of the stone is rough and unfinished, unlike the polished side with script. This suggests that the stone was once mounted in a wall. Whether it was inscribed with the stone already mounted in the wall or lying flat on the floor, it must have been very inconvenient to write on the polished side and this may well account for the rather careless look of the script, which was nevertheless the work of a professional scribe.
The text has not been identified, but it is clearly a literary composition, similar to Biblical prophecies. It is written in the first person, perhaps by someone named Gabriel (“I Gabriel,” line 77), so I have named the text “Gabriel’s Vision.” It is apparently a collection of short prophecies addressed to someone in the second person.
Like the prophets of old, whoever wrote this composition proclaims the “word of Yahweh,” the personal name of the Hebrew God. And, again like the Bible, many of the prophecies open with the words “Thus (or therefore) said the Lord [that is, Yahweh and sometimes the more generic Elohim] of Hosts.” Sometimes the text uses Elohei Yisrael, “God of Israel.” There are also numerous references to Yahweh’s kavod, or glory, familiar to all students of the Hebrew Bible.

UPDATE 7/7/2008 at 2:28pm EST: Here is a link to an English translation of the “Gabriel’s Revelation” stone at the Biblical Archaeology Review—English translation (in Microsoft Word). I have also posted the English translation (from Biblical Archaeology Review) in comments below.
This stone tablet, which contains writings dated to the decades before the birth of Christ, is thought by serious scholars of the subject to be a significant discovery.
The tablet itself is not a new discovery–it was purchased 10 years ago from a Jordanian dealer in antiquities by an Israeli/Swiss collector who, while himself an expert on Hebrew antiquities, was unaware of its importance until recently when it was shown to Ada Yardeni, a specialist in Hebrew writing.
“She (Ms Yardeni) was overwhelmed. ‘You have got a Dead Sea Scroll on stone,’ she told me.”
Read the article in today’s NY Times or in the Times Argus (Montpelier/Barre, Vermont).

I don’t usually post items like this but, with all the excitement caused by the FOIA release of docs by the Ministry of Defence, I thought it might be fun. BTW, I have never seen a UFO and have not formed an opinion as to what such phenomena might be.
This report was included in the information released by the Ministry of Defence under the Freedom of Information Act (UK). Tip o’ the hat to Nick Pope who discovered this report in DEF 31/173 (we sifted through the pdf and found this info starting at page 240).
The reason this report is so interesting is because not only was the sighting witnessed (in April, 1984) by a local resident and her neighbor, but by the local police (when they arrived to take her report, the object was still visible). The police viewed the object with binoculars and then made a drawing of what they saw (pic of drawing is below).
So…we have the civilian report, the police report, an actual drawing made by the police (included below), and a transmittal letter by New Scotland Yard to the Ministry of Defence.
I present the evidence below. Have fun! BTW, a “Section 40” is where a name has been withheld to protect the person’s privacy.
Here’s the New Scotland Yard notice to MOD…
Here’s the report filed by the officers that saw the object…

I should have gone to MIT.
OK, I shouldn’t have done the pub crawl the night before the SAT’s…and I might have focused on my grades a little more. But never mind that. Our time has come.
MIT is now free and on the internet.
Well, sort of.
Check out this link to MIT OpenCourseWare. I listened to two physics lectures last week (video lectures) by Professor Walter Lewin…I even understood what he was saying.
UPDATE 6/8/2021: APPARENTLY PROF LEWIN HAS RETIRED, BUT HIS LECTURES ARE STILL AVAILABLE ON YOUTUBE HERE: PROF WALTER LEWIN VIDEOS (much fun).
Friends of mine will remember when I argued that MIT’s (and other top school’s) professors were really not better than those at Jackson Hole Community College and Ski School. Well, I was wrong. You’ll understand what I mean when you listen to and watch Professor Lewin’s lectures. Yes, professors can be geniuses at merely communicating…and Prof Lewin is a genius!
This is a hot new movement.
No, you can’t get a degree…yet. But you can listen to lectures and read lecture notes from TOP schools around the world.
Check it out.
Here is an interesting video at youtube of various images of Caesar.
